The Ministry of Regional Development of the Russian Federation and the Russian Investment Agency “Invest in Russia” held a working meeting with representatives of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC)

30052014The Deputy Minister Michael Krouk, Adviser to the Minister, the Chief Executive Officer of the Russian Investment Agency “Invest in Russia” Yury Voicehovsky, the Director of Extrabudgetary Investment Projects Marina Shilkina held a working meeting with representatives of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).

The representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development of the Russian Federation and the Russian Investment Agency informed their Japanese colleagues about the work done by the Ministry in the selection of investment projects, which would be interesting for JBIC, among them were transport and infrastructure projects, the project of construction of the wood-chemical complex in Krasnoyarsk Region, as well as the project of the construction of a plant to produce automotive components for Toyota cars in Vladivostok (the Russian Investment Agency and the regional authorities plan to hold a joint meeting on the construction of the plant).

In addition, Yury Voicehovsky spoke about the activities of the Russian Investment Agency and he expressed readiness to cooperate in the selection of investment projects in the Russian regions, to maintain the exchange of information and to support projects at all stages of their implementation.
The Head of the Delegation of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation in Moscow Manabu Kato expressed particular interest in the development of the eastern territory of the Russian Federation and mentioned the ambitious project of creating a Russian-Asian “energy bridge”, under which it is supposed to connect the power system of Russia, China, South Korea and Japan, as well as to develop the transport system between the two countries. On this issue it is scheduled to hold a joint meeting with representatives of Russian regions and foreign countries concerned.
“Implementation of this project will be difficult; however, there are all possibilities now. The role of the Ministry of Regional Development in this project will be very important for the coordination of the Far Eastern regions of Russia” – suggested Manabu Kato.
Soon after the meeting it will be agreed upon the date of signing of the Agreement between the Japan Bank for International Cooperation and the Russian Investment Agency “Invest in Russia”.
